How we support
Made in Canada at Floré

In January 2026, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney spoke at the World Economic Forum about a changing global economy and the need for Canada to adapt to a new economic reality. While the headlines focused on trade, growth, and resilience, the message resonated with many Canadian business owners already making intentional decisions closer to home.

At Floré Canadian Incense, supporting Canadian workers, businesses, and suppliers has been part of our philosophy since we took over the business in 2019. This is not a trend-based marketing message for us. It is how we choose to operate.

As a small Canadian business, we believe the decisions we make about who we hire, where we source, and how we manufacture matter. Supporting Canadian businesses often costs more, but we believe the long-term benefits, from quality and accountability to sustainability and community impact, make those choices worthwhile.

Our approach is guided by two simple principles. Employ Canadians and compensate them fairly for their labour. Keep our supply chain as local and Canadian as reasonably possible. Here’s what that looks like behind the scenes.

Supporting Canadian Talent

There’s a common saying among entrepreneurs: Do what you do best and hire for the rest.

Like many small business owners, we started by wearing a lot of hats. Over time, we learned that trying to do everything ourselves was not always the most effective or sustainable path. That doesn’t mean outsourcing overseas or replacing people wherever possible.

It means partnering with skilled Canadian professionals who bring expertise, accountability, and pride to their work. We also believe technology has its place. AI and automation can absolutely add value. But in our view, technology should support people, not replace them.

Jessica Nichols Design - Ottawa, ON

Every brand has a visual story, and ours is shaped by human creativity. The imagery used in Floré marketing is either original photography or created by Canadian designer Jessica Nichols, an award-winning Art Director and Graphic Designer based in Ottawa.

Jessica has developed campaigns for major Canadian and international brands across television, print, digital, social media, and experiential marketing. Her ability to blend creativity with strategic thinking helps ensure our brand reflects the same care we put into our products., values, and customers better than we do.

Mike Allan SEO & AI Visibility Consultant - Toronto, ON

Most of the copy you will find on the Floré website is written directly by us as owners, because no one knows our products, values, and customers better than we do. For blog content and digital visibility strategy, we work with Toronto-based SEO and AI Visibility Consultant Mike Allan.

This partnership has helped Floré significantly expand its online visibility, making it easier for customers to discover us through traditional search and emerging AI-generated search experiences alike. While AI can be a useful tool for research and content structure, every blog begins with a clear brief, reflects our voice and expertise, and is reviewed, edited and published by us..

Rocket Surgery Solutions - Toronto, ON

Floré products are intentionally as handmade as possible. We do not rely on mass production machinery for manufacturing or packaging, but occasionally we need custom fabrication support to help our business grow.

That’s where Rocket Surgery Solutions comes in. Based in Toronto, Rocket Surgery Solutions specializes in custom mechanical fabrication, machining, and problem solving. They’ve helped us with everything from infrastructure customization to wholesale display development and custom incense burner solutions. Like us, they value local supply chains and practical craftsmanship.

MLHC - Vaughan, ON

Running a business responsibly means understanding the numbers behind it. Our accounting and tax support comes from MLHC in Vaughan, a Canadian firm that helps business owners understand what their numbers are actually telling them, without the overwhelm.

Behind every sustainable business is solid financial stewardship, and trusted partners make that possible.

A Canadian Supply Chain by Design

Choosing local suppliers is not always the cheapest option. Canadian labour standards, environmental protections, sustainable materials, and smaller production runs all come at a cost. But that cost reflects real value.

When we took over Floré, we accepted a pay cut compared to our previous corporate careers. We often refer to ourselves as bad capitalists, which aligns well with ethos of Floré's founder. This business was never about maximizing profit at any cost. It was about building something meaningful, producing a quality product, and contributing to the Canadian economy.

Here are some of the Canadian partners who help make Floré possible.

Aromatics + Flavors Inc. - Scarborough, ON

Fragrance is central to what we do, but we do not manufacture the fragrance oils we use. We mix existing fragrance oils to create new scent combinations, but the chemistry and art behind the craft of perfumery is an expertise and industry of its own.

This makes choosing the right supplier incredibly important. Our fragrance oil supplier, Aromatics + Flavors Inc., has been operating in Ontario since 1989. AFI follows strict guidelines from the Canadian government and international organizations,  reflecting a strong commitment to quality control and safety.

Their expertise in fragrance formulation, product quality, and food-grade safety standards gives us confidence in fragrance oils we use, all of which are vegan, phthalate free and not tested on animals. Working with an established Canadian fragrance partner helps us maintain both consistency and trust in our finished products.

Rootree - Burlington, ON

For a home fragrance brand, thoughtful packaging matters. Packaging should protect the product, but it should also reflect the values behind it. That’s why we work with Rootree, a Canadian sustainable packaging company based in Burlington.

Their philosophy around circular sustainability aligns closely with our own. Rather than treating packaging as disposable waste, Rootree focuses on environmentally responsible solutions designed with full lifecycle thinking in mind.

CNC Cutting - Etobicoke, ON

Our wholesale display systems are fabricated locally through CNC Cutting in Etobicoke.

Their team helps bring ideas from concept through production, offering fabrication expertise that allows us to create durable, practical retail displays for our wholesale partners. Keeping this work local allows for collaboration, faster problem solving, and quality control that would be much harder to achieve remotely.

International Gifts - Mississauga, ON

Our incense burner supplier, and now an important sourcing partner for raw incense sticks, is International Gifts in Mississauga.

This relationship became especially valuable when our previous importing source was based in the United States. Finding a Canadian partner for this part of our supply chain helped us stay aligned with our commitment to local business relationships wherever feasible.

Planet Paper - Concord, ON

Our custom packaging boxes come from Planet Paper, a proudly Canadian-owned manufacturer with decades of experience.

Their scale, operational efficiency, and GTA-based infrastructure help us access reliable packaging solutions while keeping this important part of our supply chain within Canada.

Why Buying Local Matters

Buying local is about more than geography. It is about accountability. It is easier to build trust when your suppliers are accessible. It is easier to solve problems when you are working in the same country, time zone, or city. It is easier to make ethical choices when you know the people behind the business. Supporting Canadian businesses also strengthens local economies, helps sustain skilled jobs, and reduces some of the environmental impact associated with complex international shipping networks.

No supply chain is perfect. Not every material can be sourced locally. But intentional progress matters. For us, supporting Canadian business is not about perfection. It is about making thoughtful decisions, consistently.

Every incense stick we produce represents more than fragrance. It reflects a network of Canadian designers, makers, advisors, manufacturers, and suppliers who each play a role in bringing Floré to life. When you support Floré Canadian Incense, you are not simply purchasing incense. You are supporting a business that believes Canadian craftsmanship, ethical partnerships, and purposeful local decision-making still matter.
